Canada Goose Jackets

Updated this post a little in April 2013, but I left the 2010 prices intact. Most of the prices have gone up since then so check with your closest retailer for them.

Here's a quick look at the new coat I bought from Sporting Life and a little review of the Canada Goose Montebello.

 $550 + tax = $621.50
This was the first coat I tried out and purchased - the Canada Goose NY Jacket.  It seems to be out of production, which is sad because I love it!  Until this day, I totally regret returning the jacket. It may be thin for Canadian weather, but it would be something I can travel with or wear during the fall season.

After I returned the NY Jacket, I looked around Sporting Life for other jackets, including the Arc-Teryx Fission SV Gortex Jacket.  (A rather rude saleswoman told me that the brand is pronounced "Arc-TARE-ix", not "ARC-ter-ix". Just a little FIY.)  This jacket was just what I was looking for - slim and warm!  Unfortunately, the size only went down to XS and wasn't as fitted as I would have liked it to be. If Arcteryx produces smaller sizes or even girls sizes in the future, I will definitely consider a jacket.

This is the Canada Goose Montebello Parka in light grey. I'm happy with my final decision. The length is long enough to cover my bum and the fur is removable. I'm wearing an XXS, but it's still a bit roomy for me and I'm considering selling it. Shoot me an email or tweet me if you're interested. If I sell it, I'll probably get a kids' jacket in size S. UPDATE: I bought a new Canada Goose jacket. It's the Girls Kensington Parka (discontinued) in size S.

On another note, Sporting Life's shipping service was pretty fast because I ordered this on a Friday night and received it on Tuesday morning (which is basically one whole business day). Keep in mind that I live in the Greater Toronto Area, so it might take longer for other parts of Canada.

  1. Nice jacket (and very expensive too), Jessy! It's a good investment. This jacket will last you forever. Did you know one of the sample sale sites have Canadian Goose on sale a couple of days ago? I can't remember which tho.

  2. i love the jacket you ended up picking!! it's super fitted for a thick jacket and i actually really like the fur hood as it makes it more of a parka look. :)

    and the new blog layout is awesome! i think some pink (or multicolor?) hearts would look nice and add a nice bit of color to the banner.

  3. The jacket does look slimming and warm :). I haven't live in a place where I would need a heavy coat, however, I know what it feel like when the chill gets down to my bones :(. Adding some colors to the hearts would brighten up the blog :).

    Yes I replied to you on Twitter just now. : )

    For those of you wondering, it was on Beyond the Rack (referral link).

    Thanks, Kileen! I think I'll be adding colour to the hearts very soon. :D

    @Sydney
    Sydney, you are so lucky to not need a heavy coat. Wearing jackets is the one thing I dread about winter.

  5. Awesome jacket! I thought of getting the Canada Goose jacket but it's quite expensive :S And I can't convince myself to spend that much! Ahhh but I really do hate the Canadian winters... cause it's too damn cold! :S I'll definitely think about investing in one :) Yours look amazing!

  6. Great redesign! Pink hearts would be beyond cute :)

    I never knew that you could look slim AND be warm at the same time. I actually like the fur trim part :)

  7. I like the last jacket best and it seems perfect for your location. Great jackets do cost more but if you'll wear it for years, it's worth it! =)

  9. Congrats on your CG!! I bought my first CG parka last winter from ssense.com and absolutely love it. Pricey, but definitely worth every penny. Enjoy - it'll keep you super warm all winter!

  12. Oh my gosh! I don't think I would ever invest that much on a winter coat! I would much rather freeze my butt off with the Canadian winter aha! I usually survive the winter with just a pea coat, warm scarf and gloves!
    The one you tried on and bought looks really nice though! :)
    As for your new layout, it's simple and cute! Kind of reminds me of Valentines day :P

    A slim AND warm jacket was a must for me and this one was the one!

    @The Backseat Stylers
    Yayyy! Thank you thank you :D

    @DearKarYan
    I used to survive with just a pea coat as well, but oh man was it torture. Especially when my friends & I always used to go skating!!! SOOO COLD!

  16. I don't think I've ever spent that much on a single clothing item (yet) either, but I'd have to say that it's pretty much a 'necessity' living in your kind of weather, isn't it? So definitely worth it if it's as warm as it's supposed to be :)

  17. Canada Goose jackets are awesome..so warm and fuzzy but so expensive.. Moncler jackets are nice too but that would break my bank.

  18. We match! In a sense. I ended up getting the Montebello Parka in the shiny black! It's great; super warm but light! I pulled it out the other day and was honestly sweating. Looking forward to braving the cold, winter's got nothing on us now :)

  26. Like your goose very much! want to buy for myself one like this, but im not sure in size. usually i wear S(us 6) but i heard that gooses are slim fitted, and will be S okay for me? can you please give me an advice, what size do you usually wear and what size of goose you ordered? thx))

  27. @Anonymous
    Hey! I usually wear an XXS or smaller, and my Canada Goose is an XXS. You might need to try them on as different styles may fit differently. From experience, I think the jackets run big.

    My boyfriend has the Chilliwack. He normally wears S, but his jacket is XS. My XXS isn't that fitted on me. I think you can fit into an XS. Give it a try first though! : ) Hope this helps!
