I never thought I'd see the day when someone's Neverfull is full.

Sometimes, one bag just doesn't cut it. I think a backpack + purse = tacky. I did it a few times in high school, but thank goodness I realized how weird it looked & stopped pairing the two asap.

What do you think about double-bagging? Do you double-bag for work/school?

  1. Double bag is weird.... even in high school when girls carry their purse with their backpacks. tsk tsk tsk or tote bag with another purse. if the purse fits in there... why pair it with something else? The only time its okay is when you're traveling, otherwise, so unfashionable.

  2. I carry my work bag with all my papers in it and my purse - and in the winter another bag with my shoes! LOL! I only have to make the trek from my car to my work though :P

  3. I do have to double bag (and sometimes even triple bag - EEK) for work. I use a regular purse plus a cute Sephora Tokidoki tote for my water bottle / lunch / agenda. Then I'll also have my rolling laptop bag for my laptop (duh) / papers / notes / folders.

    BTW - absolutely drooling at the Hermes + Chanel combo!

  4. I'm a double bag girl on my gym days. I have my purse with personal stuff + lunch + books and my small gym bag (this one http://shop.lululemon.com/Hottie_Hot_Yoga_Bag/pd/np/1170/p/2938.html) with my workout gear.

    If I have lots of extra stuff or my laptop, I use only my backpack.

  5. I double bag to work and to my BF's place. Usually one bag has my laptop, notebooks, planners and other paper goods. The other bag is my purse that I carry my wallet and etc. Yes, I carry two bags to by BFs cause a lot of times we stay in and we're both always on our own laptops. =p

    I really like all the double bag combos in this post though. My favorite ones you posted was See by Cloe + Tory Burch and the Prada + LV.

  6. no! no double bagging. i see a lot of people carrying a purse along with 1 or more of those green/environmental bags. i guess that's not so bad, but when i see a girl with a big huge backpack along with a tiny little purse on their arm..gosh, it just screams ugly to me. i don't really get it.

    i'd carry a purse with a laptop bag though. just so the purse would not be too heavy!

    haha I remember stuffing my small purse into my backpack before back in my high school days. :P

    @curls-and-pearls
    omg I hate carrying shoes! They're the worst 'cause they're so lumpy. Thankfully, you have a car :P

    @SewPetiteGal
    I'm loving that combo as well!!

    Gym days are the worst when it comes to bag carrying!! Sooo much stuff..clothing, books, water, shoes..

    @serenadeveryday
    OMG! I'm the same when I go to my bf's place. Laptops, books..homework stuff so we can study together. :D

    @a,
    Some people have their reasons for carrying a backpack + purse!!! I agree about how it's unattractive though.

    And I used to always carry a purse with a laptop bag! Damn university..

  10. lol i am guilty of this from time to time. i try not to, but sometimes i can't help it. i blame it on my work!

  11. I just carry one huge one with everything in it and if it doesn't fit then I shouldn't be carrying it around lol

  12. lol.. when I travel, I usually double bag. I usually stuff my neverfull to the max when I travel as well. They fit soooo much! haha. In high school, I could never get myself to do the backpack + purse thing. I totally agree. It screamed TACKY to me. Only when I travel do I make some exceptions, but I never carry backpacks. Even in high school, I always carried a shoulder bag. Not a big fan of backpacks.

  13. Does a giant portfolio case count as a second bag? ;P Otherwise, no... I carry either a messenger bag (if I need my laptop/art supplies) or a small satchel. I find it's easier to keep my stuff organised when I only have one or two bags.

  14. What does everyone carry around that requires 2 bags? Even my one bag feels like a ton of bricks after carrying it around for a few hours, so I try to bring only the essentials :)

  15. wow, way too many bags xD one is just enough >.<"

  17. I have to agree with most people here.. I hate the double bag. A lot of working women do it cause I always see people with it during rush hour. For the most part, I don't really mind, but these ladies are like struggling to carry these and always hit me on the subway, streetcar, buses, streets,.. you name it. So annoying!!! lol /RANT

  18. I try to fit everything into a big bag if i can. But otherwise, sometimes i carry a bag to carry in my hands otherwise it's too much for my shoulders.

  19. I double bag for school. I don't want to put tension on my straps due to my laptop and textbooks.

    It's so rare seeing a full Neverfull! LOL Hence the name.. "Neverfull" ; ) I'm not a huge fan of backpacks either, but in high school, it was a must for me. haha

    @Rinny
    The business woman always needs two bags! ;D haha

    @shirley
    When it comes to rush hour, double bagged people are the worst!!! LOL

  21. Hmmm I don't think I have ever double bagged.. and yeah it does look a bit tacky.. >< " But anyways I LOVE these bags in the photos!!!!! Especially the first two and the LV one. <33333333333 Love!! And thanks for tagging me doll. :D!!

  22. i've had to double-bag when i'm travelling. i usually have a separate workout bag just cause i don't like my gym clothes to mix with my nicer clothes.

    i love the bags in these pictures!

    cute and little

  23. If I had these bags, forget double bagging, I'd quadruple bag, or something. just be all blinged out with bags. that's what I would do.

    But seriously, I wouldn't do a backpack and a purse, but maybe a bigger tote and a little messenger bag?

  24. I throw everything into my GST Chanel purse for work instead of toting around a smaller purse plus a work bag...my shoulders would die..LOL But I do double bag it when I travel:)

  25. I'm usually a big bagged girl or a very tiny wrist wallet girl. I know what you mean on how strange it looks with the bookbag and purse. I stopped doing that after I saw myself in the mirror. Looks so weird! The photos is making me so jealous ... wish I could afford to wear two high designer purses at once! Sheesh. It just looks offensive to the purses in my opinion. Each purse should be allowed to shine individually.

  26. I love the post!! I am one to double bag but mainly for school purses. I have my purse to carry my junk and another bag to carry my books.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm a huge believer in not wearing backpacks and purses too! The look doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. But I never imagine pairing two purses before, and it actually works out :D

    Loving the pairings for See by Cloe & Tory Burch, and I have a particular love for that Prada.

  28. double bagging it is weird.. even if it is designer hangbags hahah.. the only time i double bag is at the airport!

  30. haha, I was carrying around 3 bags this morning when I moved from one city to another to visit my boyfriend. I can't say it was handy, but I managed to get all my stuff moved. maybe next time I can just use a suitcase ^^x

  32. I double bag all the time for school and work :) it's better than stuffing everything you need in one bag and making it look super chunky... anyway, great picks here - thanks for sharing Jessy <3

  33. Somehow I can't accept this double bag style. I have bags of every other size and manage to put everything into a single bag!!!

  35. I like these pics...I don't think ppl usually double bag to be fashionable, right? ; ) Probably only when they absolutely need it because they carry around too much junk, a la the case of the overflowing neverfull. Sometimes I have to double up on the Longchamps when traveling to distribute the weight of my crap on both shoulders.

    I know what you mean about girls wearing a backpack in high school, and then toting a small purse to be cute or fashionable. That is a different story...

    ReplyDelete
  36. nice post! i used to double bag to work. one for my regular purse and one for my laptop. i just leave my laptop at work now. so no more double bag.

  37. @Banhannas
    haha I totally agree..the owners of these $$ bags probably wanted to flaunt them ; )

    @Jenny Ong
    I totally agree! I usually do a backpack only or a purse+laptop bag combo :D

    @PetiteAsianGirl
    These ladies are probably trying to be fashionable with their designer bags. :P All of the pics about DO look good - I wonder how it'll look if they were just "normal" bags. hehe And wow..you're a champ for carrying two Longchamps!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nah, I could never do that! Sometimes I'll bring a small purse and stuff it inside my backpack. I think it's too much to worry about. I tend to be forgetful, so carrying one bag is enough, lol!

    However, this isn't the case when I have to bring my purse and a suitcase or duffle bag into a terminal and onto an airplane. I wouldn't say that counts though, since technically it's luggage that will eventually be left at a hotel room of some sort during a trip. :P

  39. I used to double bag when I was working too, b/c I had too much junk. I had a big gucci tote bag for large items like books, papers, sweaters/scarves, lunch, I used my LV trevi for my wallet and other personals items. I don't keep it in my tote bag b/c there's no zipper or closure. I also keep a small wristlet in one of the bags for coffee runs! Maybe I just need a bigger bag??? I thought I was crazy but after reading your blog post, I guess its more common than I thought!

  40. As a male, I'd have to say that a woman carrying two bags looks awful from an aesthetic and practical standpoint. Most of the time, the second bag does not match well with the rest of her outfit, and in the rare instance that it does, it becomes too much of a certain colour. In regards to being practical -- why not take one big bag instead of two smaller bags? On top of that, do you really need all that junk you're carrying? If it doesn't fit in one bag, you're carrying more than you need. The only exception to this is pregnant women, who need all the help they can get (storage space or otherwise).

  41. @Christina
    double bagging is a must when traveling! maybe even triple bagging!!

  42. @Lor - Petite in the City
    It's definitely very common, but it's a bit distracting in many cases. Especially during rush hour on the train haha :p

    This is why so many women have a bajillion bags! From tiny clutches to huge bags ... I don't know how I could carry two bags, asides from a laptop case. I'm a tiny person already and two+ bags will just kill me.

    agreed with pregnant women comment

  44. I mean women with babies.. actually. Not pregnant. What do pregnant women need?!
