Sugarlips Style Icon: Look 05 - Slate Modern Top

This is the final look for my week as the Sugarlips Style Icon. I hope you enjoyed my daily posts featuring Sugarlips pieces! I had a lot of fun styling them and I'd like to thank Sugarlips Apparel for allowing me to take part in this. It was an honour to be their Style Icon for the week. (My 30% coupon code expires on July 16th! I do not receive commission from its use.)

The top I'm wearing is without a doubt one of my faves from my small collection of Sugarlips pieces. I love the soft colours that make up this colourblock top, as well as the bold contrasting black stripe across the middle.

I'm surprised to say that these wedges from Old Navy are my new summer favourite. I randomly came across them when I purchased this maxi dress. They are inexpensive, comfortable, and (imo) very cute. If you're interested in them, you should size up. I'm usually a size 6, but these are a size 7. I don't remember the last time I had to size up one whole size for shoes and was surprised at how small these fit. Look at how exact they are!

I'll admit that for me, the wedges took a bit of getting used to. All of my shoes right now either close my feet up (booties, loafers, etc.) or have straps that wrap around my ankles for security. These wedges are slip-on style without ankle straps so when I first walked in them, I had to clench my toes in order to keep the wedges from flying off my feet. As someone who almost never wears this style of shoe (no ankle straps or covered heel), I'm quite proud to say that I quickly got used to them and can walk in them like a normal person now. ; )

  4. You look great! I can totally relate to your pain on not being able to wear strappy sandals with none of the usual support regular shoes offer. Good to read that you got familiar with it quickly though :)
