Top 10 Purchases from 2012 (Part I)

This post has been on my mind for months, but it's long delayed due to my personal and academic lives. I apologize for the 2-3 month delay, but like the saying goes: better late than never! This post has been split into two parts and there is no particular order in the products I've posted.

For casual outfits, this pair of laced combat boots is perfect because you can fold its collar or wear it unfolded. I've had these boots since February 2012 (one of the lovely gifts my friends & boyfriend bought for me). They've been worn in the sun, rain, and snow and are still in great condition*. They can add a tough flare to feminine outfits or maintain an edgy vibe for your casual ones. Either way, these (and my Sam Edelman 'Petty' boots from 2011) have been my usual go-to boots when I can't decide on which pair of shoes to wear.
* Leather care can lengthen the lifetime of your leather products and I highly recommend Danier's leather care system - one that I'be been using for years.

Gap is one of my go-to places when it comes to basics. When I saw this grey sweater on sale, I had to pick it up. I got it in a size small for a slouchy fit and to wear as an off-the-shoulder top. The sweater is comfortable, warm, and perfect for wearing on its own or layered. It also looks great with a statement necklace.

StyleMint is my online destination for unique and comfortable basic tees. (You've probably seen me talk about them many times before.) I own a few pieces from them, but the Sunset Henley is my favourite because it's simple, shows my curves in a flattering way, and easily wearable with anything. Unfortunately, this top isn't available anymore since I purchased it last spring/summer, but I encourage all of you to sign up for StyleMint (referral) and check out their other tees and sweaters.

I bought my second Longchamp tote, the Planetes, at Bloomingdale's when I was in San Francisco last summer. I wanted to replace my navy Le Pliage, which was forming a tiny hole in the corner. The Longchamp Le Pliage is a bag that I always recommend when people ask me for work, travel, or school bag recommendations. This purse is durable, simple, and best of all, water resistant. I chose the Planetes because it feels sturdier/thicker than the Pliage and the pure black bag appealed to me.

My Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer sunglasses are a shared favourite between my boyfriend & I. We love that most Ray-Ban eyewear are unisex! Since my boyfriend always borrowed my pair, I started looking around for another to add to our collection and happened to find the Meteor on Beyond the Rack. The shape of this pair is more defined and the frame is smaller than the 'Originals'. If you're looking for Ray-Ban sunglasses, I suggest waiting for a sale at Beyond the Rack because a lot of the styles go for under $120. There's usually a sunglasses sale every couple of weeks, so you wouldn't have to wait long.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I'll be publishing part two shortly. Please post any comments/questions you have about these items below. : )

    1. It depends on the top. All of my StyleMint tees are size 1, but they're divided in fit. My shirts usually end up fitting like how they look on the model, so I'd say try gauging the fit by how it looks online. Or when it doubt, use StyleMint's live chat feature. Good luck! : )

  11. Too cute that you can share sunglasses with your BF! I like to steal my husband's ties as a belt sometimes, but he doesn't like it much because I return them wrinkled LOL

  14. I love reading these types of posts! I'd wear that Stylemint tee all the time too. I have long thought about getting a Planetes tote, I have the regular one but I'd love it to be just a tad bit sturdier.

    1. When your regular tote wears out, you should really consider the Planetes! : )
