Five Fall Wardrobe Essentials 2013 (Women)

[image taken from here; modified by me]
Fall is just around the corner (this Sunday) I've been thinking about what to add to my autumn shopping list. Hopefully, this post will inspire you guys and provide you with some ideas on what to buy for fall. Other than the "basics" (tees, jeans, etc.), here is a small list of the items I came up with.

1. Boots
Whether it be combat, ankle, knee, or thigh high boots, these shoes scream "fall" and are perfect for protecting the feet in the season that leads to winter. I am guilty of owning each of the boots I mentioned previously (and more...), but with good reason. Each pair has gotten its fair share of wears - combat boots for casual, ankle boots for mature looks, and so on. You've probably seen me wear all sorts of boots on my blog by now. Here I am wearing over-the-knee boots, knee high boots, combat boots, and flat ankle boots. The obvious colour theme here is black , but I'm currently looking into some cognac boots to expand my collection. My favourite boots include the Sam Edelman 'Petty', the Vince Camuto 'Hawn', and the Steve Madden 'Troopa'.

2. Leather jacket
A great leather jacket is not only a stylish piece, but it's a classic. It can easily escalate one's wardrobe and can be thrown on top of nearly any outfit. It takes patience to find one that fits your body and suits your style, but once you find one, it'll be worth it. A good leather jacket ages well and can be one of the longest lasting pieces in your closet. I've heard great things about Mackage jackets and would love to own one one day. Danier is one of my favourite leather jacket brands because of their styles, quality, and sizing. They currently ship anywhere within Canada and the U.S.

From Danier, I own style #104030506 in 3XS (seen here) and #104030119 in 2XS (seen here). I also own this shearling jacket from Oasap (seen here) and this cropped jacket from eBay, which can also be found on Oasap.

3. Medium to large sized bag
For those who are back in school (or work) this fall, having a sturdy, roomy bag is mandatory for carrying books, gadgets, and snacks. A tried & true brand (and my personal favourite for large totes) is Longchamp. While it's true that their bags are ubiquitous across college and university campuses, there's obviously a reason why they're so popular. I own both the Le Pliage (buy here) and Planetes (buy here) bags. While the Le Pliage is more popular, I prefer the Planetes because it's more sturdy.

4. Warm scarf
A chunky knit or circle scarf is essential for chillier autumn days. While I don't incorporate them into my wardrobe as much as I'd like to, I love the idea of keeping cozy with one. A scarf is probably one of the easiest accessories to throw on during the fall season and there's a style for everyone. One of my favourite online destinations to browse scarves is ASOS.

5. Cardigan
I find that cardigans are more practical than regular pullover sweaters because of their versatility. Cardigans can be layered over any outfit for extra warmth. I tend to go for long cardigans that cover the bum because I like the extra coverage for the times I wear leggings. Long cardigans also create the illusion of a lengthened torso. Check out my picks for some fall 2013 and back to school sweaters!
