Fall Fashion Trends 2013

Now that we’ve said goodbye to summer, it’s aloha to fall and a whole new closet full of trends. I love this time of year, because it gives me the perfect opportunity to wrap up warm in my comfiest clothes and snuggly scarves. I’m really excited about the new fall color palette too, as, being of the dark hair and pale skin variety, the rich tones complement my hair and skin tone far better than summer’s eclectic mix of neon brights and muted pastels. Before I get too carried away, here is the lowdown on this season’s most wearable trends – I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s definitely a case of, get it or regret it.

Leather Luxe
If you’ve been anywhere near the stores yet, you’ll no doubt have seen that leather is everywhere. It is the it fabric to be seen in this season. Now you may be thinking that leather is just for punks and bikers right? While it’s true that leather works great with spiked and studded accessories, ripped t-shirts and chunky boots, you can also make it work, whatever your style of choice, simply because it’s so versatile. If you invest in nothing else leather this fall, you have to get your hands on a leather jacket. You can go for the real McCoy genuine leather if you’re in the mood to splash the cash, or opt for one of the many faux leather beauties on offer if your budget is fairly small. Look out for metal buckle detail, zips and studs for a girl with attitude look, or try a leather jacket with faux fur collar trim for a more feminine approach. Colored leather is set to be big this fall, so don’t feel that it’s an all-black affair. Look out for green, burgundy and purple versions of leather. There’s only one rule – don’t wear an all-leather outfit.

Green with Envy
The top trending color of the new season is green. The great news is that there is a perfect shade of green for every complexion and hair color. Those with darker hair look great in brighter shades, while fair-haired girls should opt for earthier khaki tones to make hair shine. If you don’t fancy going all out green with your outfit then invest in some of the many green accessories available everywhere in stores at the moment. A green leopard print scarf and green ballet flats are all you need to transform a simple camisole and jeans combination and will bring you bang up to date with the season’s looks.

Classic Prints
Forget the garish, over the top prints of the summer – the new season is all about taking things back to the tried and tested classic prints. I’m talking about leopard print skinny jeans, pinstriped skirt suits, and houndstooth jackets. Don’t be fooled into thinking that classic means boring however. You’re free to mix up as many prints as you like into one outfit, or choose one statement print and keep the rest of the ensemble neutral. Take this Guliea Leopard Print Cropped Biker Jacket from Missguided for example. It’s the perfect blend of rock chick biker girl with an added touch of fierce print to show off your wild side. And don’t forget that there are loads of colored leopard print items everywhere at the moment, so feel free to inject mood-boosting color into your outfit choices.

Which styles are you most excited to try out this fall?
