Winter Coat Shopping

Canada Goose Girls Kensington Parka (discontinued; women's version) • Silence & Noise studded shoulders sweater • Zara Girls Camouflage jeans • Report Abbott over-the-knee leather bootsDerek Cardigan 7014 Tortoiseshell glasses (first-time Canadian customers can get them for free + shipping)

I've been looking for new winter jacket to replace my Canada Goose Montebello. I had the Montebello for a couple of winters, but even the smallest size (XXS) was a little too loose on me. I wanted a more fitted, slim coat that was a bit longer for a more mature look. (Ironic because I found my Kensington Parka in the kids department.) I love that this parka, like my Montebello, has removable fur. I usually zip the fur back on when it's super chilly. As a petite person, I'm happy that this long coat still hits above the knee. A plus when shopping in the children's department! Unfortunately, the girls Kensington is being discontinued this year, but the women's version is still available if you're interested.

When people ask me for winter coat suggestions, Canada Goose is one of the first brands I mention. I'm a fan of theirs for a number of reasons:
• They're Canadian
• Their jackets are warm
• People own these jackets for years (a testament to their quality)
• They're one of the few brands that carry (kids) sizes that fit me. (The other brands I've tried had too-short sleeves)

Prior to my purchase, I tried on jackets from The North Face, Arc'teryx, Mackage (duty free & free shipping until Dec. 1st with the code CHEER), Moncler, and more. While the kids Moncler jackets (size 12) fit me well, I didn't believe they'd be warm enough for winter because they were so thin. The other brands I mentioned simply didn't have sizes that fit me. I originally wanted to get an AI - Riders of the Storm jacket (official site), but I couldn't find any stores in Toronto that carried it.

I found this coat on sale when my boyfriend & I went on winter coat shopping trip (for him) at Sporting Life. Funny how I was the one who ended up with something (when I wasn't even looking) and he didn't. Good news though - he bought himself a Danier leather jacket. I'm not sure if he wants to use it as a winter jacket though. I'll keep you posted. ; )

  1. Hi Jessy which Sporting Life did you find the sale at? Also what size kids are you wearing? I think I'm similar sized to you. Thanks!

    1. I 'm wearing a Size S, which would probably be how a 3XS in women's sizing fits if Canada Goose made that size. I bought this at the Eglinton location back in September. It was one of the last jackets left, so I suggest calling first before you make the trip. Good luck!

  3. The jacket fits you really well! I'm guessing you don't wear bags with shoulder straps with that sweater, haha. I can't imagine how painful it must be!

    1. I can fit them on my shoulders right before the studs, actually. Pretty convenient!
