Gift Ideas for Kids + Shopping at Markville Mall

I visit Markville Shopping Centre about once a week since it's really close to my boyfriend's house. The mall has improved drastically since I first visited when I was a kid. From an entirely new food court (known as the Express Eatery) to the many new stores (J. Crew, Michael Kors, Aritzia, & Sephora, and more) that have recently opened, Markville has definitely stepped their game up to become the #1 shopping destination in Markham, Ontario.

I took advantage of Markville's holiday hours and completed most of my gift shopping already. The few who are left on my list are mostly young children. There are a lot of stores at Markville that cater to kids (The Children's Place, Gymboree, and Toys R Us, to name a few), but I visited the stores that carry products for all ages so that I can finish my shopping all in one go.

Here are some gifts that I picked out for the kids:
Old Navy girls flats ($22.94)

Chances are, you already own a pair of leopard, glitter, or bow flats (I'm guilty of two of the above), so get your little cousin a matching pair! The Old Navy at Markville is huge, so you'll end up finding something for everyone.

2014 Olympic mittens ($10), Crane 'Frog' Humidifier ($59.99), Gordon Teddy Bear ($40), Philip 2013 Teddy ($19.99) (all from The Bay)

For infants, a cute pair of mittens is always a great idea for keeping their tiny hands warm. The adorable humidifier was made for infants, but it can make a great gift for anyone. I actually bought one for myself last year because my room gets really dry during the winter months.

Doodlez Skateboard ($27.99) (from Toys R Us)

I love the idea of customizable skateboards. These not only encourage fitness activity, but can spark some creativity in young children as well. They also sell matching blank helmets ($19.99) that come with markers too!

Don't forget to take a photo with Santa then have your gifts wrapped for you (all proceeds benefit the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation) while you wait!

    1. I didn't know Walmart is open 24/7 for the holidays! That's awesome. Those teddy bears from The Bay are sooo soft. They're one of those toys that young children will cherish forever. : )

  3. Awesome ideas! Young children are getting harder and harder to buy gifts for since they're engrossed with technology now. I still have a few young cousins left on my list and I think the skateboard is a fantastic and unique idea!

And I agree with how Markville has improved significantly. I think all malls managed under Cadillac Fairview are really stepping it up now :)

    1. That's so true! I tried to stay away from tech-related gifts since children are so exposed to technology these days. I hope you get a chance to pick up that skateboard!

  4. I haven't been to markville in ages since I live dt and even then my parents had to drive north. But I love the cute bear. The bay pattern is so iconic and can never go out of style even on a stuffed animal!

  17. Hey Jessy! Great post! I just discovered your blog through Jean (extrapetite) and I really love your blog so far! I actually found your blog because I decided to start my own fashion blog and I got really excited when I saw your blog because I'm from Toronto too! :) My boyfriend lives really close to Markville mall so I've been there several times w/ him and there's DEFINITELY a huge difference from how it looked before to now, it's a lot like Fairview now (STC is going to have to step up its game!! Haha)

... This is random, but I just followed your Twitter and you now Annie N (not writing her full name b/c I don't know if she's okay with that) too?!? Small world.. haha :)

I've never been to Markville before but I'm thinking of making the trip this weekend to finish up some Xmas shopping. Thanks for this post! I'll be dropping by The Bay to find that humdifier for my nephew :)
