Item of the Week: Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm

UPDATE - 02/19/14
The swatch photo above was added by request. Left = My natural lip colour; Right = The Dior lip balm after about a minute. My lips are noticeably darker in shade, especially my top lip. Everyone will get different results, so I suggest trying it out for yourself!

I've been using this lip product since last summer and have nothing but positive reviews about it. Most of the drugstore lip balms I've tried made my lips peel, so I decided buy something that's a little more high end to test out. Sephora's great return/exchange policy helped me in making this decision because  if the product didn't work out, I can return it.
"Formulated with color reviver technology, this silky lipstick reacts with the chemistry of your lips to create a special shade that will last all day."
Dior recently released this lip balm in coral, which I'm excited to try soon. The colour on my pink one is very sheer and provides a unique shade on every individual. On me, the lip balm enhances my natural lip colour adding a slight shade of dark pink. According to my friend, it gives her lips a really nice light pink, which was actually how I hoped mine would turn out! Boo to my lip chemistry. :( The scent on this is  very light, and pleasant enough for me to sniff it every time I take it out. It rarely makes my lips peel, which is a huge plus for me.

I recently bought the Marc Jacobs Lip Lock Moisture Balm to see if it was any better than my Dior, but immediately returned it because it was too waxy and I didn't like the sugary texture. These two factors combined made my lips peel because the grains would subtly lift up any excess skin on my lips. The minty scent was very pleasant though. For those in need of a colourless lip balm and don't have sensitive lips, I suggest that you try the MJ one out! Otherwise, the Dior Lip Glow is the way to go. : )

Comment below with any lip balms you've tried recently! I love trying new products out! : )

  1. Ah I love both Dior's and YSL's lip products! The packaging is so pretty I would buy it just because it's so pretty - good thing you and others have viewed the product itself and have mentioned how great they are. Could you post any swatches?
    Thanks!

    1. Hey Christy! I just uploaded a new photo. Hope it helps!

I love both Dior and YSL's packaging too. They're so pretty that I'd want to keep them after finishing each product!

  2. It seems like you've just answered my prayers!

I've been SO SICK AND TIRED of buying those damn drugstore lip balm and they all SUCK. I have sensitive lips as well, and they peel so much. :( Been deciding which high end brand to purchase lately.... Iunno why I feel more AHHHHHH about buying an expensive lip balm rather than a high end lipstick. -__-
