Review: Aritzia Babaton Ellis Pants & Old Navy Striped Top

Left to Right:
Old Navy Mixed-Striped Textured-Rib Top (navy)
Babaton Ellis Pant (Charred) via Aritzia
Babaton Ellis Pant (Everest) via Aritzia

The Old Navy sweater comes in three colours: navy, red, and yellow.

The Babaton pants currently come in  seven colours and they may vary each season.
Old Navy Breton Striped Top (Regular XS)
I noticed this sweater on a mannequin at Old Navy and loved how it looked. When I brought it home to try on (I don't usually try things on at the mall), it was unfortunately longer and slightly wider than I wanted. The top has the perfect amount of thickness and is really great quality. I love the contrasting colours and would definitely keep it if it were available in petite sizing here in Canada. U.S. shoppers are lucky enough to be able to buy this top in regular, tall, and petite sizing!

Composition: 100% cotton
Measurements: Unfortunately, I returned the top before getting the chance to measure it. From the photo above, you can see that the shoulders fit me well, but I would recommend this size to someone with a slightly longer torso than me. The top is a straight cut so it doesn't give me any curves, which is another reason why I returned it since I was looking for something more form-fitting.

Babaton Ellis Pants (Size 00)
I honestly never wanted to shell out this much money for a pair of pants, but I never have luck with work pants elsewhere. Petite sizing at Banana Republic fits me alright, but the length is always too short. Size 2 at H&M fits me pretty well, but some of their items (colours, style, quality, etc.) just don't work for me. For reference, I usually wear a size 23 in jeans.

Aritzia's clothing go down to a size 2XS and 00, meaning I can always shop there without worries about fit. Even the length of these pants needed no alterations for my 5'2"ish height. The pants feel ahhh-mazing and are stretchy. The Ellis pant is "made with an innovative bi-stretch cotton fabric that keeps its shape with wear". There are no pockets (the back ones are fake), but I have no issues with that. The rise is perfect, as it's not too low or high on me. These pants were very well worth it for me. I feel like I've wasted quite a bit of money finding work pants that fit well, so I decided to finally splurge on pairs that work on me.

"Charred" is a greyish brown in real life and "Everest" is a beautiful hunter green. My photo above doesn't really show the true colour. You have to see it in person!

Composition: 92% cotton; 8% lycra
Measurements: 12.5" waist; 7.5" rise; 28.25" inseam; 5" leg opening

  1. I recently bought a striped top from Zara as I've been looking for one that looks good on me for a while. I think the one on you looks good =)

    1. I'm going to check out Zara's selection too, since I returned this one. Thanks, Yen!

  2. I really like all the looks. I have this bad habit f walking into old navy thinking I'm never going to find anything. But somehow everyone else finds the cutest things!!! <3

    1. Thank you, Maggie! It can be overwhelming to sift through all the racks in store, so I suggest shopping their things online! : )

  3. Where is that white blouse from? See through?

    1. The blouse is from OASAP and is opaque. : )

  4. The Babaton Ellis pants look a lot like the J.Crew Minnies/Winnies (Factory). Have you ever tried on the Minnies before? Just wondering how the two pairs compare because I love my J.Crew pants but it'd be nice to have other options! Thanks!

    1. Ohhh man, I just saw this post! I'm just going to answer it in case anyone else reads this in the future. : ) I've never tried the J. Crew ones, but you're right about them looking like the Ellis pants! I'm going to check out my J Crew soon and see if they have the Minnies in stock. : )
